A sheet-by-sheet material retrieving apparatus for packaging can metal sheets (x), comprising a material placement unit (1), a limiting unit (2), and a material feeding unit (3). The material placement unit (1) also comprises a propelling component (12) provided below a material placement mesa (11). The material placement unit (1) is provided at one side of a conveyor belt (y). A horizontal driving component (32) is fixedly provided at the other side of the conveyor belt (y). The material feeding unit (3) also comprises an auxiliary component (33) used for resetting a retrieval/placement component (30). The material retrieving apparatus, by means of the propelling component (12) provided below the material placement mesa (11), implements the automatic feeding of the metal sheets (x), obviates the need for manual operation, implements continuous material replenishment and material feeding production, and also is simple, reliable, convenient to operate, and inexpensive.
