Abstract:
A shift range control device (40) that switches shift ranges by controlling motor (10) drive, in a shift range switching system (1) having play between a motor shaft (105) and an output shaft (15) that are rotating shafts in the motor (10). The shift range control device (40) comprises a drive control unit (55), a stop control unit (75), and a return control unit (77). The drive control unit (55) drives the motor (10) such that an engagement member (26) fits into recessed sections (221–224) corresponding to a required shift range. The stop control unit (75) stops the motor (10) at a target position corresponding to the required shift range. If the required shift range corresponds to either end of the plurality of recessed sections (221–224), the return control unit (77) performs return control whereby, after the motor (10) stops at the target position, the motor (10) rotation position is returned to within a play range.
