Abstract:
Provided are a shock absorber that can realize a reduction in weight, and a manufacturing method for the shock absorber. This damping force regulating-type shock absorber comprises: a cylinder; a piston; a piston rod; a housing; a damping force regulating mechanism provided inside the housing; and a cover that covers at least part of the outer periphery of the housing. The damping force regulating mechanism is provided with a solenoid, a harness, and an overmolded part that covers the side of the solenoid spaced apart from the cylinder. A protruding part that protrudes in a non-circular shape is formed on an outer surface of the overmolded part. A rotation restricted part, rotation of which is restricted by the protruding part, is provided on the cover. The cover is formed so as to be integrated with a bracket that is for fixing in place a flexible body that is disposed in the vicinity of the cover.
