Abstract:
Provided are a silica glass yarn and a silica glass cloth that have low permittivity and low loss, and that demonstrate a stable signal transmission speed due to stabilized characteristic impedance. This silica glass yarn has a thread crimp crimp-density of 0.10 counts/cm or less, where the thread crimp has a folding point at which the curvature radius is 5 mm or less and the bending angle is 120 degrees or less. Preferably the tensile strength of the silica glass yarn is 2.0 GPa or greater and the breaking initiation force of a silica glass filament constituting the silica glass yarn is 80.0% or greater of the tensile strength of the silica glass yarn.
