[Problem] To make it possible to detect somatic cells (for example, white blood cells or neutrophils) in raw milk subjected to short centrifugation. [Solution] A somatic cell counter 1 includes: a somatic-cell-concentration measuring unit 12 that measures the somatic-cell concentration C(t) of centrifuged raw milk in association with the time t for which centrifugation is performed; a time-constant recording unit 14 that records a time constant T in the correspondence relationship between the somatic-cell concentration C(t) and the time t; and a somatic-cell-concentration derivation unit 16 that derives a somatic-cell concentration C0 on the basis of the measurement result of the somatic-cell-concentration measuring unit 12 and the recorded contents of the time-constant recording unit 14. The somatic-cell-concentration measuring unit 16 measures somatic-cell concentrations C(t1), C(t2), and C(t3) for a plurality of times t1, t2, and t3. The somatic-cell-concentration derivation unit 16 derives the somatic-cell concentration C0 by using the least squares method so that the magnitude of an error δ between the measurement result of the somatic-cell concentration measuring unit 12 and the correspondence relationship is minimized.
