Abstract:
This sonicator (1) comprises: a drive unit (41) configured to be capable of driving an ultrasonic sensor element (51) such that a plurality of ultrasonic waves are transmitted sequentially over time; a reception signal output unit (3) that outputs a reception signal (Rs) on the basis of reception of the ultrasonic waves; an envelope detection unit (42) that detects an envelope of the reception signal and outputs an envelope signal (Env); and a height detection unit (43) that detects the height of an obstacle on the basis of at least one of a comparative assessment based on the ratio of the peaks of two envelope signals generated for each of the transmitted ultrasonic waves, and a comparative assessment based on the temporal difference between the peaks of the two envelope signals generated for each of the transmitted ultrasonic waves.
