Abstract:
This technology relates to a sound source direction estimating device and method, and a program which enable a reduction in the amount of calculation required to estimate the direction of a target sound source. A first estimating unit estimates a first horizontal angle, which is the horizontal angle of a sound source direction, from an input acoustic signal. A second estimating unit estimates a second horizontal angle, which is the horizontal angle of the sound source direction, and an angle of elevation, in a prescribed range in the vicinity of the first horizontal angle, with reference to the first horizontal angle. This technology is applicable to devices having the function of estimating the direction in which a sound is emitted, in a case in which the sound is emitted from a sound source (such as a person) in a surrounding area.
