Title:
SPARK PLUG AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/203742
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a spark plug for which the bond strength of a tip and the spark consumption resistance of a grounding electrode can be secured. A welded part has the back surface part exposed to the reverse surface of an electrode base material, and a junction part joins the tip. A connection part connects the junction part and the back surface part in the thickness direction of the electrode base material without being exposed to the side surface of the electrode base material. In a cut section with the side surface of the electrode base material cut by a single plane that passes through the center of the top surface and the center of the bottom surface of the tip, the value of the width of the top surface of the tip divided by the width of the opposing surface of the electrode base material is greater than 0.3, and the maximum width of the connection part in the direction orthogonal to the thickness direction of the electrode base material is greater than the width of the back surface part, and therefore it is possible to secure area for the junction, and to secure the bond strength of the tip. The back surface part exposed by the welded part exists on the reverse surface which is not susceptible to spark discharge occurring, and therefore it is possible to secure spark consumption resistance of the grounding electrode.
