Abstract:
This spindle device (10) is provided with: a rotating shaft (12) provided with a plurality of turbine blades (11) that extend in the circumferential direction; a housing (20) that houses the rotating shaft (12); and a gas bearing (40) provided on the housing (20) and that, through the supply of a gas, floats and supports the rotating shaft (12) with respect to the housing (20) in a contactless manner, wherein the rotating shaft (12) rotates due to the gas being jetted onto the plurality of turbine blades (11). The plurality of turbine blades (11) overlap the gas bearing (40) in the axial direction. As a result, a flat configuration in which the length in the axial direction is short is provided whereby miniaturization and weight reduction can be achieved.
