Abstract:
Provided is a component that is made of so-called untempered steel that has not been tempered after hot forging, and, in particular, untempered steel that has a bainitic structure, the component having a high yield ratio, and, specifically, a yield ratio of at least 0.60. This steel component has a prescribed component composition and a structure that is, by area, at least 85% a bainitic structure and no more than 5% retained austenite. The crystal grains of the bainitic structure have an average diameter of 10–25 μm, an average aspect ratio of at least 0.5, and an average ratio of crystal grain interface length to crystal grain circumference of no more than 60.
