Abstract:
Provided is a steering device which has an operational sensation that is clearly felt when a movable tilt lock gear and a fixed tilt lock gear are firmly engaged, prevents strange engaging noises during tilt adjustment, generated when tilt position adjustment is carried out when the movable tilt lock gear and the fixed tilt lock gear are part-engaged, can smoothly carry out tilt position adjustment during tilt unclamping, and wherein the number of components and assembly steps have been reduced. When an engaging protrusion (433) engages with a step section (474), the operational force of an operating lever (43) suddenly decreases, and a clicking sound and clicking sensation occur, thus the operational feeling is excellent because there is a clear operational sensation demonstrating that clamping has firmly occurred. The engaging protrusion (433) is integrally formed with the operating lever (43), and a sliding surface formed from a groove section (472), an inclined surface (473) and the step section (474) is also formed on the outer-side surface of the fixed tilt lock gear (47), thus the number of components and assembly steps, and the manufacturing costs can be reduced.
