Abstract:

An end (17) of a stick grindstone (10) is pressed against a surface (S) to be polished of a work (W) to polish the surface (S) to be polished. The stick grindstone (10) comprises inorganic long fibers (15) and a resin having infiltrated into the inorganic long fibers (15) and cured. The inorganic long fibers (15) comprise 80-90 wt% alumina component and 20-10 wt% silica component. The inorganic long fibers (15) have a crystalline structure comprising mullite crystals and an intermediate alumina. The mullite crystals have an average grain diameter of less than 25 nm.
