Abstract:
[Problem] With a storage device which takes as a storage medium a combination of drive devices which have respectively different endurances and are of different types, to provide a performance management method and device which respond in a planned manner to problems which may arise in future from the drive devices reaching the endurances thereof. [Solution] With a prerequisite of organizing into tiers two or more types of storage media having respectively different write endurances and response performances and being able to move data among the tiers of the hierarchy according to the response performance, a performance management device estimates a portion of the storage capacity for each of the two or more types of storage media which is reduced as the write endurance is reached while estimating the impact on performance with respect to a virtual volume and the time at which said impact will occur thereupon, and displays, from said estimation, information relating to said impact on performance and the time at which said impact will occur.
