Abstract:
This subject tracking device is provided with: a first histogram generation unit that generates a first histogram which indicates the appearance frequency of image feature amounts in a subject region for each of segments and sub segments of the image feature amounts; a second histogram generation unit that generates, for each of candidate regions, a second histogram which indicates the appearance frequency of image feature amounts in the candidate regions for each of segments and sub segments of the image feature amounts; a difference deriving unit that compares, for each segment and sub segment, the first histogram and the second histogram, and derives, for each candidate region, a difference sum value of the appearance frequency of the image feature amounts in the first histogram and the second histogram; and a region selecting unit that selects, from among the respective candidate regions, a candidate region having the minimum difference sum value. The sub segments are determined so as to be bridged across the boundaries between the segments.
