Abstract:
Provided are a submarine optical cable having an optical-unit longitudinal cladding copper strip, and method for fabrication thereof, comprising: an optical unit, a copper strip (1), a sheath (4), outer-armor steel wire (5), a first PP rope (7), a pitch spacer (6), and a second PP rope (8); the surface of the optical unit is wrapped longitudinally using the copper strip (1); the sheath (4) is arranged on the outer surface of the copper strip (1); part or all of the inner surface of the copper strip (1) is covered with an adhesive film (10); an adhesive (9) is arranged between the outer surface of the optical unit and the inner surface of the copper strip (1) or the adhesive film (10) and used for bonding; the edges of the copper strip (1) are overlapped for lap fixing. By means of the submarine optical cable having an optical-unit longitudinal cladding copper strip, and method for fabrication thereof, the structure of a conventional feeder submarine optical cable is optimized and argon arc welding is unnecessary to reduce the weight and material cost; by means of the fit of the adhesive film (10) and the adhesive (9), the longitudinal cladding and sealing of the copper strip (1) on the surface of the optical unit is achieved, and the strength and tightness of the lap joint is ensured, reducing the difficulty and construction risk of repairing the copper strip (1).
