Abstract:
A surface discharge plasma display panel constituted of a first glass substrate (1) which has a plurality of scanning electrode pairs (X, Y) and a black stripe (21) formed on one main surface thereof and has a dielectric layer (4) for covering the scanning electrode pairs and the black stripe, and a second glass substrate (6) which has a plurality of address electrodes (W) and has a plurality of partitions (7) abutted against the dielectric layer (4) so as to form a discharge space (10) corresponding to each of the address electrodes (W). With respect to the black stripe (21) formed on the first glass substrate (1), by cutting a portion crossing each top portion (8) of the plurality of partitions (7) on the second glass substrate (6), the gap at a portion where the top portion (8) of the partition and the dielectric layer (4) are abutted against each other is reduced, thus enabling reduction of unnecessary discharge space between adjacent unit light-emitting areas (EU). Thus, a surface discharge PDP of high performance having less write defects due to erroneous discharge is realized.
