Abstract:
Provided is a temporary storage system that has a large capacity and can smoothly load and unload goods. A temporary storage system (2) is provided with grid-like travel rails (9, 11) and a buffer (6) at positions other than a position above a processing device (53) and directly above loading ports (54), and the temporary storage system causes local carts (8) to travel. A traveling section (24) of each local cart (8) travels longitudinally and laterally on the travel rails (9, 11) as a result of the travelling section being provided with a longitudinal direction traveling unit (35), a lateral direction traveling unit (35), and advancing/retracting mechanisms (28, 30) that selectively cause the longitudinal or lateral traveling units (35) to advance to a position where the traveling units (35) are supported by the travel rails (9, 11). A transfer section (26) is provided with a hoist (45) and an arm (40) that moves the hoist (45) horizontally. The local cart (8) stops at a position corresponding to a loading port (54) and transfers goods (50) between the local cart (8) and the loading port (54) by causing the arm (40) to advance toward the loading port (54).
