Abstract:
This thermal storage device comprises: a container which encloses a thermal storage material having a thermosensitive polymer gel which comprises a thermosensitive polymer and a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, an organic solvent, and a compound of water or an organic solvent; and a heat exchanger which is housed in the container and which stores heat or cold in the thermal storage material by exchanging heat with a heating/cooling fluid to heat or cool the thermal storage material, and which releases heat from the thermal storage material by exchanging heat with a heat utilization fluid to absorb heat from the thermal storage material, the thermal storage material changing reversibly between being hydrophilic and hydrophobic with the lower critical solution temperature thereof as the boundary, and the solvent included in the thermosensitive polymer gel being maintained in a liquid state as the thermal storage material changes between being hydrophilic and hydrophobic.
