Disclosed are a thermosensitive pellet-type thermal fuse capable of ensuring high heat response speed when installed in a subject to be temperature controlled comprising a flat surface part, able to ensure a high degree of reliability in operation with little disparity in heat response time on a per product basis, having few components, thus having reduced manufacturing costs, and methods of manufacturing and attaching same. The thermal fuse comprises a slender case having an interior space portion, a first lead wire disposed along the longitudinal direction of the slender case upon one end portion thereof, a second lead wire disposed along the longitudinal direction of the slender case upon the other end portion thereof, and a movable contact point that contacts the second lead and is consistently biased in the direction of a circuit break by the presence of a meltable pellet, which is disposed in contact with the first lead. When the temperature of the subject to be temperature controlled reaches or exceeds a prescribed temperature, the meltable pellet melts, breaking the contact between the movable contact point and the second lead wire by way of the bias force, facilitating the interruption of the power circuit. The slender case is configured to comprise a flat surface portion capable of making contact with the flat surface portion of the subject to be temperature controlled.
