Title:
TITANIUM DIOXIDE RECOVERY METHOD USING FLUORIDE AND MICROWAVE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/235779
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for recovery of titanium dioxide (TiO2) by using fluoride and a microwave and, more particularly, to a method for separating a titanium fluoride compound by adding a fluoride solution to a raw material including titanium (Ti), applying microwaves to same to prepare a mixture containing a titanium fluoride compound formed therein, adding a heating element to the mixture, and then applying microwaves to the heating element to separate a titanium fluoride compound as a precursor of titanium dioxide, and to a method for recovering titanium dioxide by using the separated titanium fluoride compound. According to the present invention, a process of fluorination and sublimation of a Ti material is conducted by microwave application, and a heating element is additionally added to perform a reaction with a FeF2 residue formed in the titanium dioxide recovery process to generate additional heat, whereby the process time can be greatly reduced, with the consequent improvement of process efficiency.
