Abstract:
A torque converter lock-up device capable of appropriately setting a clutch interval according to temperature and which increases design freedom for a mechanism for this purpose. This device comprises a clutch disc (28), a piston (30), a bimetal return spring (50), and a cam mechanism (51). The clutch disc (28) is arranged between a front cover (2) and a turbine (4). The piston (30) is movably arranged in the axial direction facing the front cover (2), straddling the clutch disc (28), and presses the clutch disc (28) on to the front cover (2) side. The amount of return spring (50) deformation is adjusted according to ambient temperature. The cam mechanism (51) increases the gap between the front cover (2) and the piston (30) during low temperatures and decreases the gap between the front cover (2) and the piston (30) during normal temperatures, for example, in accordance with the amount of return spring (50) deformation.
