Abstract:
The present invention relates to: plant cells in which the expression or activity of a phytochelatin synthase (PCS) gene or a protein encoded by the PCS gene is reduced compared to parent cells; a plant including the plant cells and having a reduced amount of absorbed heavy metals; a method for reducing the heavy metal content in a plant, the method including a step for reducing the expression or activity of a PCS gene or a protein encoded by the PCS gene compared to that in parent cells of the plant; a CRISPR-Cas9 recombinant vector including a single guide RNA targeting a PCS gene; and a method for producing a plant having a reduced heavy metal content, the method including a step for transforming plant cells by means of the recombinant vector.
