Abstract:
The present invention transmits high-frame-rate and ultrahigh-resolution image data in such a way that downward compatibility can be realized satisfactorily on the receiving side. The present invention processes high-frame-rate and ultrahigh-resolution image data, and obtains image data of a basic format for obtaining a basic-frame-rate and high-resolution image, image data of a first extension format for obtaining a high-frame-rate and high-resolution image, image data of a second extension format for obtaining a basic-frame-rate and ultrahigh-resolution image, and image data of a third extension format for obtaining a high-frame-rate and ultrahigh-resolution image. The present invention generates a basic video stream including the encoded image data of basic format image data and a prescribed number of extended video streams including the encoded image data of first, second, and third extension format image data. The present invention transmits a container of a prescribed format including the basic stream and the prescribed number of extended video streams.
