Abstract:
Provided are trifluoromethylthiophenium derivative salts useful as intermediates in the synthesis of drugs or agricultural chemicals, a process for production of the same, and a process for the production of trifluoromethyl-containing compounds using the same. Specifically provided are S-(trifluoromethyl) -benzo[b]thiophenium derivative salts represented by general formula (1), a process for the production of the same, and a process for the production of various trifluoromethyl -containing compounds using the same as the trifluoromethylating agent. In general formula (1), R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a straight-chain, branched or cyclic C3-10 alkyl group, a methoxy group, an ethoxy group, a straight-chain, branched or cyclic C3-10 alkyloxy group, a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, a nitro group, or a cyano group; R5 is a methyl group, an ethyl group, a straight-chain, branched or cyclic C3-10 alkyl group, a phenyl group, or a substituted phenyl group; and X- is an anion.
