This turning tool (1) comprises: a tool body (10) that extends along a tool axis (J) and has a base (18) on the tip thereof; a cutting insert (20) that is detachably mounted to the base (18); and a measuring device (3) that is mounted to the tool body (10). The measuring device (3) has a first distance sensor (31) for measuring the distance to a target object that is radially outward of the tool axis (J).
