Abstract:

Basic amino acid derivative of the general formula: (1) wherein each of R¹ and R² independently represents a C₅-C₂₁ linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl; each of R³ and R⁴ independently represents a C₁-C₂₂ alkyl or alkenyl or a hydrogen atom in which the alkyl or alkenyl may be linear or branched or may form a ring structure; z is an integer of 0 or greater; and each of x and y is an integer of 2 to 4. This basic amino acid derivative enables gelling or solidification of a wide spectrum of liquid organic mediums through addition of a small amount thereof. The obtained gel is excellent in long-term stability at about room temperature. Further, the basic amino acid derivative enables providing a gelling or solidifying agent that can be synthesized through simple procedure.
