Abstract:
In the present invention, the occurrence of operation error with respect to a user operation for indicating an object is suppressed without relying on changing the display of the object. A display device (10) displays images on a display surface (141) and can detect a proximity operation in which a finger (F) approaches the display surface (141) without making contact, and a line contact operation in which a finger makes contact with the display surface (141). The display device (10) displays on the display surface (141) an e-mail composing screen (SC1) that includes selectable objects, and when a proximity operation that indicates an object (b1) is detected, the display device makes the selection of the object (b1) valid and the selection of nearby objects (b2-b5) (objects indicated by slanted lines in fig. 6B) invalid. When detecting a contact operation that indicates the object (b1) for which selection was made valid, the display device (10) specifies the object (b1) as the user's selected object. The display device (10) does not specify objects, for which selection was made invalid, as selected objects.
