Title:
VARIABLE VALVE GEAR SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/037177
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A variable valve gear system, comprising a changeover mechanism changing over between a both valve variable state and a single valve variable state for increasing the durability of the changeover mechanism. While an internal combustion engine is idled before a vehicle is started, the operating state of the internal combustion engine comes within a single valve small lift area (point A). In this case, the changeover mechanism is brought into the single valve variable state. After the vehicle is started, the operating state is changed from the point A → B → C, and transferred to a both valve large lift area. Then, to shift up, a clutch is disengaged and an accelerator pedal is released to return the operating state to the single valve small lift area (point A). In this case, since a time in which the operating state comes within the both valve large lift area is short and an actual profit obtained by changing over the operating state to the both valve variable state is small, a changeover operation to the both valve variable state is prohibited in the operating state of point B → C.
