Abstract:
To provide a vehicle control apparatus for controlling a vehicle, the vehicle control apparatus being provided with: a variator provided on a motive force transfer path between a drive source and a drive wheel of the vehicle; and a friction coupling element provided between the variator and the drive wheels, said element coupling when a travel range has been selected and decoupling when a non-travel range has been selected, the transfer of motive force through the motive force transfer path being blocked. In the present aspect, the operating state of the vehicle is detected, and the desired gearing ratio for the variator corresponding to the operating state of the vehicle is set. When the actual gearing ratio for the variator is lower than the desired gearing ratio, the hydraulic pressure supplied to a primary pulley in the variator is lowered, and gear-change control for increasing the gear ratio for the variator is executed. When the selection is switched from the non-travel range to the travel range while gear-change control is being executed, lowering of the hydraulic pressure supplied to the primary pulley after switching is limited.
