Abstract:
Regarding various autonomous parking starting positions, a driver is allowed to perceive predetermined control content carried out by a vehicle control device, and smooth autonomous parking is provided. The vehicle control device has a processor and memory, the device is installed in a vehicle, and the device controls the vehicle to a target parking position. The vehicle control device has an obstacle detection unit that detects the position of an obstacle in the surroundings of the vehicle, a travelable area setting unit that sets an area in which the vehicle can travel as a travelable area and sets the target parking position within the travelable area on the basis of the position of the obstacle, a route generation unit that calculates a travel route to the target parking position within the travelable area, and a parking execution unit that causes the vehicle to travel toward the target parking position on the basis of the travel route. The route generation unit generates a route from the set parking start position to the target parking position in at least one section, and corrects the distance of the section to a prescribed distance or greater when the distance of the section is less than the prescribed distance.
