Abstract:
A vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) array (901) is provided with: a base substrate (11); VCSEL element columns (101-105) arranged in a row direction (direction y) on a surface side of the base substrate (11); and parallel wires (73, 74) which connect the VCSEL element columns (101-105) in parallel. Each of the VCSEL element columns (101-105) includes: a plurality of VCSEL elements disposed in a column direction (direction x); and a plurality of series wires (61). Each of the plurality of series wires (61) respectively connects, in series, two VCSEL elements among the plurality of VCSEL elements, in a direction corresponding to a forward direction of the two VCSEL elements, said two VCSEL elements being next to each other in the column direction. Insulation grooves (91, 92) are formed in the base substrate (11). The insulation grooves (91) electrically insulate the VCSEL element columns (101-105) from each other. The insulation grooves (92) electrically insulate the VCSEL elements from each other.
