Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a technology of improving visibility of a virtual image to be presented. A virtual image display device (10) according to the present invention is provided with: a display unit (14) that generates image display light (L) by modulating illuminating light; and a projection optical system (16) including at least a concave mirror (18) that reflects the image display light (L) toward a virtual image presentation board (22). The display unit (14) is disposed at a position closer to a focal point (26m) within the meridional plane of a synthesis optical system (20), which comprises the virtual image presentation board (22) and the projection optical system (20), than a focal point (26s) within the sagittal plane of the synthesis optical system (20).
