Abstract:
Provided is a waveguide that enables communication even when a conductor is present between a reader-writer and an RF tag. The waveguide according to the present invention is a waveguide 10 used when a shielding conductor 102 that shields electromagnetic waves W is present between a reader-writer 100 and an RF tag 101, wherein the waveguide is provided with a first waveguide element 20 and a second waveguide element 30 that each have electrical lengths of λ/4, λ being the wavelength of the electromagnetic waves, and a transmission path 40 in which one end of each of the first waveguide element and the second waveguide element are connected to each other. The waveguide is inserted into a through-hole 102a in the shielding conductor, and the first waveguide element and the second waveguide element are disposed in two spaces set off by the shielding conductor. Electromagnetic waves sent from the reader-writer are received by the first waveguide element and emitted by the second waveguide element, thereby preventing the conventional occurrence of all of the electromagnetic waves being reflected by the shielding conductor, and enabling communication between the reader-writer and the RF tag.
