Abstract:
A wire grid polarizer exhibiting high polarization separation ability in the visible light range, which is excellent in heat resistance and durability, and a method for producing a wire grid polarizer with high productivity while increasing the area. The method for producing a wire grid polarizer comprises a step for coating a supporting substrate (22) with a photocurable composition (20), a step for pressing a mold (26) having a groove (24) against the photocurable composition (20), a step for forming a light transmitting substrate (14) having a ridge (12) corresponding to the groove (24) in the mold (26) by curing the photocurable composition (20) while pressing the mold (26) against the photocurable composition (20), a step for separating the mold (26) from the light transmitting substrate (14), and a step for forming a metal thin line on the ridge (12) of the light transmitting substrate (14).
