The object is to detect a train that enters a wireless train control zone from a zone uncovered by the security system by adding a ground device. In a wireless train control system involving an unsecured zone that is not covered by the security system and a zone covered by a wireless train control system, a ground device is added to the uncovered zone, the ground device being capable of transmitting information about the distance between the device and the border between the uncovered zone and the wireless train control zone. The train is equipped with a ground device detector for receiving the information from the ground device, an on-board wireless communicator for starting communication with a base station once the ground device is detected and a train control device for creating a braking pattern from the distance information in which the train is braked to a halt at the system border and for receiving train control information. The train control system controls a train entering the wireless train control zone from the uncovered zone based on the distance information, the braking pattern and the train control information.
