Abstract:

Novel crystals useful as a starting material for a diabetes remedy. These are &agr −form and ß−form crystals of (R)−2−(2−aminothiazol−4−yl)−4'−[2−[(2−hydroxy−2−phenylethyl)amino]ethyl]acetanilide. The &agr −form crystal has no hygroscopicity, has stability which makes the crystal usable in a medicine, and is useful for mass synthesis in industrial production. The ß−form crystal has relatively low hygroscopicity and is useful also as an intermediate for the &agr −form crystal.
