To provide a Cardan universal joint, capable of preventing metal contact of the bottom inner surface of an outer ring of a bearing with a top end surface of the shaft part of a cross shaft even if a large torque acts thereon.

When a large torque acts on the Cardan universal joint 15, a truncated conical part 74 of a thrust piece 7 is plastically deformed at a truncated part 741 at the upper end, and elastically deformed at the lower end with a larger diameter. Consequently, the circumference of the central part of a bottom inner surface 641 of a needle bearing 6 abuts on the upper end surface (contact face) 732 of a flange part 73 as shown in Fig. 8. Accordingly, since the circumference of the central part of the bottom inner surface 641 of the needle baring 6 abuts on the upper end surface 732 of the flange part 73 with a wide area, breakage of the bottom inner surface 641 of the needle bearing 6 or the thrust piece 7 can be prevented even if a large thrust force acts thereon.
