Abstract:

To provide: a carrier for an electrode catalyst capable of preventing deterioration in an electrode catalyst, and a method for producing the carrier; an electrode catalyst including the carrier for an electrode catalyst; and a fuel cell including the electrode catalyst.

A carrier for an electrode catalyst according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a carbon carrier and a crystalline carbon layer formed on the surface of the carbon carrier and including at least one hetero element chemically bonded to carbon forming the carbon carrier. The at least one hetero element may include nitrogen (N), sulfur (S) or combinations thereof.
