Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a damping device with an oil supply type damper of an inverted type front fork, capable of relatively long expansion and contraction strokes.
CONSTITUTION: A damping device 1 comprises an expanding/contracting cylinder 2 having an inner and an outer cylinder 2a, 2b, a suspending spring 3 and a damper 4. A piston rod 6a connected to a piston 6 contained inside a cylinder 5 is advanced to and retreated from a rod guide 5a by the damper 4. The rod guide 5a is provided with a one-way oil seal 5b. The cylinder 5 is formed smaller than the inner diameter of the expanding/contracting cylinder 2. An air chamber B for compensating a volume is formed on the upper portion of the cylinder 5. The cylinder 5 and the expanding/contracting cylinder 2 are fixed to each other, and a cover member 7 is provided for closing the upper ends thereof. A hole 5d is formed on the side of the air chamber B of the cylinder 5.
