Abstract:

PURPOSE: To realize D.C. driving while suppressing hysteresis in the displacement-voltage characteristics by driving a piezoelectric ceramic actuator with a nonlinear output voltage.
CONSTITUTION: An input voltage is subjected to nonlinear amplification such that the microdisplacement of a piezoelectric actuator exhibits nonlinearity with respect to the input voltage and a nonlinear output voltage is applied to a piezoelectric ceramic. When an input voltage is applied (S1), a nonlinear amplifier built in a power supply circuit or the like amplifies the input voltage nonlinearly (S2) to produce a nonlinear output voltage (S3). The piezoelectric actuator is subsequently driven with the nonlinear output voltage. This method allows driving of the piezoelectric actuator while suppressing the hysteresis.
