To provide a method for producing a corrosion-resistant magnesium alloy as a regenerated material from chips of a magnesium alloy, to provide a corrosion-resistant magnesium alloy obtained by the method, and to provide a structural member comprising the same.
In the method, the compacted body of magnesium alloy chips is subjected to hot extrusion molding at an extrusion temperature of 573 to 723 K at an extrusion ratio of 25 to 400 in the air, so as to produce a corrosion-resistant magnesium alloy having oxide film layers effectively disturbing the progression of corrosion so as to be distributed parallel to the extrusion direction at the intervals of ≤25 μm on the average. The corrosion-resistant magnesium alloy is obtained by the method. The structural member comprises the same.
