Title:
HYDROPHILIC COATING FILM AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3400259
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve wear resistance by incorporating fine grains of silica and/or alumina into a specified composite film.
SOLUTION: This hydrophilic film is produced by a following method. Namely, the composite sol soln. contg. a titania sol capable of being dehydration- polycondensed, a metal oxide sol which is dehydration-polycondensed to form an amorphous metal oxide and a colloidal soln. of silica and/or alumina is applied on a substrate. The coating soln. is then calcined at 400-850°C to form the composite film consisting of the titania contg. fine grains of silica, etc., and a metal oxide on the substrate. Consequently, since the amorphous film is added to the titania brittled by calcination, the amorphous film acts as a binder, and the film becomes resistant to the external stress and is improved in wear resistance. Further, as the film contains the fine grains of silica and alumina having much physically adsorbed water, the hydrophilicity is efficiently maintained.
