In an image display apparatus that includes a display portion for displaying an image, in a case where an instruction for an image display changeover is issued, and a face region of a character is selected, an image, which contains a face of a character that has the same identification information as the identification information of the face of this selected character, is identified from a plurality of images stored, and the changeover to the identified image is performed; besides, in a case where an instruction for a list display is issued, and the face region of the character is selected, a plurality of images that are likewise identified are displayed in a list.
