Title:
IMPELLER SHELL FOR TORQUE CONVERTER AND ITS MOLDING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3884119
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the loss in energy of working oil, which is developed when working oil flows from an impeller to a turbine, and thereby enhance the performance of the torque converter.
SOLUTION: An impeller shell 40a of a torque converter is provided with a main body part 41, a connection part 42, and with a step difference part 43. The main body part 41 is provided with a curved inner circumferential surface 41a to which an impeller blade 40b is mounted, and is so disposed as to be faced to a turbine 5. The connection part 42 is in a cylindrical shape larger in diameter than the outer circumferential end of the inner circumferential surface 41a, and is fixed to a front cover 3. The step difference part connects the end part at the engine side of the main body part 41 with the end part at the transmission side of the connection part 42. The radial size of a corner part F formed out of the inner circumferential surface 41a, and of the surface 43a at the engine side of the step difference 43, is finished to be less than 4mm by finishing the molding of the part by press after it has been preparatorily formed by press.
