Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with which it is possible to suppress the occurrence of a positional deviation of a retardation layer and an opening of a pixel part or shading part and suitably perform three-dimensional display, and a color filter with a patterned retarder that is used in this display device.SOLUTION: Provided is a color filter with a patterned retarder comprising: a substrate; a pixel part formed in a shape of a pattern on one surface of the substrate and including a red subpixel, a green subpixel and a blue subpixel; and a patterned retarder having an alignment layer formed on a surface of the substrate and a retardation layer formed on the surface of the alignment layer and containing a compound having refraction anisotropy. The retardation layer has a first retardation region and a second retardation region, a difference in the in-plane retardation value between a retardation layer formed in the first retardation region and a retardation layer formed in the second retardation region being equivalent to λ/2, each of the first retardation region and the second retardation region being provided in a shape of a pattern along the pattern of the pixel part of n pixel parts (n=natural number).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
