Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of an Mg-based thermoelectric material.SOLUTION: A method of producing an Mg-based thermoelectric material is provided in which an Mg-based thermoelectric material 1 having Mg deficiency is heated in the presence of metallic Mg3 to obtain an Mg-based thermoelectric material having a larger proportion of Mg than that of the Mg-based thermoelectric material having Mg deficiency. An Mg-based thermoelectric material 1 having Mg deficiency is preferably heated while the Mg-based thermoelectric material having Mg deficiency and a metal Mg3 are surrounded by a heat-resistant material such as carbon sheet 5. According to this method, an Mg-based thermoelectric material having high performance can be produced by supplementing deteriorated Mg-based thermoelectric material with Mg.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
