To provide a method for knit stitch knitting in a circular knitting machine, by which the size (knit density) of knit stitch is changed to one stitch unit of knit stitch and a large knit stitch (normal knit stitch) and a small knit stitch (small knit stitch) are formed in the knitting texture of the same course and the size of the knit stitches is differed at the front foot parts and the rear foot parts of socks and the size of the knit stitches is changed at a patterned part and a plain part without changing the amount of a knitting needle drawn in by a stitch cam to produce a clear effect on the pattern.
The method for knit stitch knitting in the circular knitting machine comprises taking a sinker in and out between reciprocating knitting needles to knit a knitted fabric. A sinker top 25 and a sinker dimple lower than the sinker top 25 are formed at the top part of the sinker. The sinker 20 of a changed knit density having a difference in height at the top part is used. When a knitting yarn 60 is drawn in by the knitting needle 30 while placing the knitting yarn 60 on the sinker top 25, a normal knit stitch S1 is formed. When the knitting yarn 60 is drawn in by the knitting needle 30 while placing the knitting yarn 60 on the sinker dimple 26, a small knit stitch S2 is formed.
