Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound enabling removal of a catalyst by stripping of a reaction product under reduced pressure and free from catalyst residue and amine odor and nasty smell.

CONSTITUTION: This compound is obtained by reacting a phenol (e.g. phenol, resorcin, hydroquinone or a naphthol) with an alkylene oxide (e.g. ethylene oxide or propylene oxide) using an N-dialkylamide such as dimethylformamide or dimethylacetamide as a catalyst. Furthermore, the reaction product is preferably purified by stripping under reduced pressure.
