To provide a projector which can adjust an optical axis to be perpendicular to a projection surface while keeping an installation surface between the projector and an installation place wide, and which need not correct irregularity of the projection surface by oblique incidence in image processing or the like.

The projector has an optical mechanism part including: a light source for image projection; an image forming element for forming an image; and a projection optical system for projecting the image by the image forming element to the projection surface. A part of the optical mechanism part is rotated centering an axis parallel with a luminous flux-emitting direction of the light source, so as to adjust an angle between the optical axis direction of the projection optical system and the installation surface.
