To attain rapid kick-off of electrostatic charge and to ensure superior stability of a charged state, superior spending resistance, heat resistance, environmental resistance, color reproducibility and transparency by incorporating a specified resorcin allene deriv. compd. as a heavy metal-free negative charge controlling agent.

This toner contains a resorcin allene deriv. compd. represented by the formula, wherein each of R1, R2, R5 and R6 is H, 1-5C alkyl or -(CH2)mCOOR9 [R9 is H or lower alkyl and (m) is an integer of 1-3], all of R1, R2, R5 and R6 are not H, each of R3 and R7 is H, halogen, alkoxy, carbonyl, nitro, alkyl or hydroxyl, each of R4 and R8 is alkyl which may have a substituent, aryl which may have a substituent or a heterocyclic group which may have a substituent and (n) is an integer of 1-4.
